The Lake District

In September 2005 my wife and I traveled up to the Lake District for a holiday where we stayed in the small village of Troutbeck for two weeks which is just outside of Windermere. Troutbeck itself is a very small picturesque village consisting largely of one road, a post office and two pubs and is surrounded by mountains and beautiful countryside. The entire Lake District region has, in my opinion, some of the most stunning scenery anywhere in the UK and during our time there I took nearly 1000 photographs in an attempt to capture some of it's beauty.

The Dominican Republic

2007 wasn't exactly what you would call a good year for us, both of us had been very stressed with work and the start of the year saw me hurt my back and be off work and house bound for 4 months. Feeling very stressed and frustrated we decided that we needed to get away. Neither of us are what you would call 'beach people', I get very bored sitting on a beach doing nothing and so our usual type of holiday is to go and tour around like we have done in places like Tuscany or to visit a city like Rome and do a lot of sightseeing.

When in September 2005 my wife and I made our first trip to the Lake District we loved it so much up there that we vowed to return. Well almost exactly 4 years later we did just that and have just returned from a two week holiday up there. Whereas last time we stayed in the tiny village of Troutbeck close to Windermere, this time we stayed practically on the banks of Ullswater close to the lovely village of Pooley Bridge.
