Bargain Memory Cards And Avoiding The Fakes

Whilst moving house I seem to have lost one of my memory cards, a Sandisk 1GB Ultra II, so I've been looking to replace it. In the past I would normally have just gone to Ebay to pick up a bargin but these days the vast majority of all cards on Ebay are fakes which either don't offer the performance of the card they are meant to be, are not of the stated capacity, are not as reliable or all three! Sadly it is very hard to tell the fake cards from real ones as the differences between them are so small that in some cases even the manufacturer will find it difficult or impossible to spot the fake by visual inspection alone. The end result is that the only wake to tell if a card on Ebay is fake is to buy, by which time it's too late.

Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300AWI seem to be constantly hunting for the right camera bag and have gone through something like 7 or 8 bags trying to find the one that is right for me. I've tried Rucksacks, Sling style bags & Shoulder bags, huge bags, tiny bags and everything in between but nothing really seemed quite right. Big bags where too heavy for hours of use, small bags didn't hold enough equipment and whilst Rucksacks were great for hiking they were a pain at all other times. So could my new bag, the Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300AW be the perfect bag for me?

Kingston Elite Pro Compact Flash CardMemory cards can be a hot topic among photographers with many staying loyal to one brand whilst others will buy whatever is available. What is for certain though is that it is often a case of 'you get what you pay for'. Prices for the same capacity memory card can vary wildly with differences of over £20 between the cheapest and most expensive, a difference so large than often you can buy 2 cheap memory cards for the price of one expensive one. Often you will read reports of cheap memory cards either being so much slower or unreliable with high failure rates compared to their more expensive counter parts but is that always the case?
